What to do for children with orthostatic hypotension

Orthostatic hypotension is a disease that occurs in adolescents, and it is difficult to regulate blood pressure in the morning, so when you wake up, you will have a headache or stomachache.

It is thought that it is caused by the rapid growth of height and the imbalance of hormones and autonomic nerves.

Also, when I see a child who visits our hospital, he or she is exercising vigorously during the summer vacation, such as in extracurricular activities. This is probably the cause.

One or more of the above may be the cause, but these causes cannot be eliminated immediately.

Then, since adolescence is defined as the period between the ages of 11 and 18, does this mean that orthostatic hypotension cannot be cured until after puberty?

Will the screaming heart, which is strained too much by sports, not return to normal?

No.

Not at all.

There are so many children whose orthostatic hypotension has improved even though puberty is not over.

If you do things right, you’ll recover faster than people say.

“But I don’t know what to do…”

Most people say.

I think there are probably some people who do not know what to do other than giving medicine, even doctors.

So what should a child with orthostatic hypotension do?

that is

get out of bed

It’s a matter.

Many children with orthostatic hypotension stay in bed.

Around noon, I get up and go to the living room to eat lunch, and after I finish eating, I go back to my room and operate my smartphone and games on the bed.

We spend the day sitting and lounging around in bed.

You will spend most of your time in bed, except when eating or bathing.

Doing this will not make you feel better.

many parents

“I want you to be able to wake up”

I bring my child to our hospital, but when I listen to him carefully,

“Anyway, I want you to live well.”

Most of the time it’s the number 1 wish to say.

It seems that the most painful thing is that the child is not feeling well.

However, I don’t get well while I’m in bed.

Representatives of people who live in bed are those who are bedridden or withdrawn.

To put it bluntly, it is a state in which the sympathetic nervous system is strongly activated during the daytime.

The sympathetic nervous system only goes up a little bit even when playing games.

The sympathetic nervous system is most active when you move your body.

But I

“Please stop living in bed.”

Some people just can’t stop.

Why?

that is

because there’s a bed

is.

Imagine.

Even if you come home from work exhausted and still have things to do, the bed in front of you makes you want to lie down for a while, right?

Doesn’t it make you want to lie down with just your upper body instead of your whole body?

That’s the magic of beds!

Do not put the bed in sight.

It doesn’t matter if you wake up at noon, but when you wake up, please leave your room and play games or operate your smartphone in the living room.

The problem here is to leave it to the child’s autonomy.

If you leave it to your child’s autonomy, think of it as playing games on the bed.

If you were told when you were a child that you could do whatever you want, would you sit up straight and study all day long?

Please be kind and strict.
